Pope STEM Students Are "Going to Change the World"

Last year, four Pope students approached the Foundation with a request to help fund their project. Through the support of our donors and fundraising, the Foundation was able to support the project. And we are so glad to have been able to help!

Four Pope seniors, Ishaan, Ammar, Ekansh, and Kenneth spent months creating a product called Medi-Loc. It is designed to help senior citizens or those with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, take their medicine in a safe and reliable way. Using an app that they developed, a scanned fingerprint ensures the correct person is there. And that allows access for the medication(s) to be dispensed. The user can also use the product to set reminders for the correct times to take medicine.

The Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition received entries from all over the nation. Pope's team is one of the last 100 projects still in contention, which has already brought $10,000 to the Pope STEM program. If they can make it to the final 10, it will bring an additional $100,000.

There are only 4 programs from the state of Georgia still in contention, and Pope is the lone entry left from Cobb County. We are exceptionally proud of what has already been accomplished and salue these four amazing seniors and math teacher Julie Kokan.

Best of luck in the next round!
